Our First Harvest!

We yielded our first harvest over the weekend. We had two strawberries ready for picking. Jackson and Jordan were so excited. Here they are pre-picking.

And it was delicious!

We have another strawberry turning red. And the beans and squash are really starting to bloom. And maybe, just maybe I'll have fresh tomatoes for my salad in a month or so.

Gardening in the 'Burbs

When I was growing up, every summer was filled with fresh vegetables from the garden. So now, Kenny and I are trying our hand at a garden...again. We've had gardens the last few years, but the birds and critters have gotten to our veggies. This year, we're attempting it again, with Jackson's help. We have to go check the garden everyday when we get home.

We've already got strawberries that are starting to ripen. We also have tomatoes, banana peppers, cilantro, green beans, squash, cucumbers and okra. All in our little corner of the suburbs. :) Jackson could care less if he eats anything from the garden. But he LOVES playing in the dirt. He's so excited to see the progress every single day. And watching his excitement makes it all worth it. Hopefully the critters stay away this year. xfingers crossedx

Easter Fun!

We had such a busy Easter weekend. It started on Friday when we went to my Aunt and Uncle's annual fish fry. The food was great and the kids enjoyed their second Easter egg hunt of the year. The first was at school on Thursday. Here's Nana laying out the ground rules.

Saturday was spent at my sister's house. We boiled crawfish, and boy were they yummy. The kids got to spend more time playing. I didn't get any pictures from Saturday, so just imagine us eating mud bugs.

The Easter Bunny came to Mom and Dad's on Sunday morning. It was wet outside, so we hunted eggs in the living room. And the kids were so excited. Here they are with their loot.
We all had lunch at my parents house and had another egg hunt.

Then we celebrated Papaw's birthday. Here he is opening a gift certificate to the bowling alley.
After that, we headed to Kenny's parents for their Easter celebration and the fifth and final Easter egg hunt! Jordan wanted to make sure Julia had some eggs too.

After the egg hunt, the kids went after the pinata. Jordan wasn't too sure about it, so I helped her.
Jackson couldn't wait to get his turn. He just laughed and laughed.
Not only did Jackson like hitting the pinata, he also helped his daddy pull it. Kenny's rope went up and down and Jackson's went side to side. He took his job very seriously.

We ended the day with family pictures and confetti eggs.

We missed everyone who couldn't make it.

Playing Soccer

Jackson has started playing soccer this spring in the neighborhood. He had his first game on Saturday and really did well. We were proud at how well he understood keeping the ball in bounds and he even scored a goal.

Spring Show

This past Friday was the Spring Show at Jackson and Jordan's daycare. Each class came out and sang a song. Jordan's class sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

I took this one when Jordan finally saw me in the crowd. I was hidden behind a few other parents.
Jackson's class sang a couple of spring-y songs. They really sang well. I was surprised.
Jackson, of course, had to pose with all the animals on the backdrop.

What a Weekend!

First of all, we just want to tip our hats to the Aggie men and womens basketball teams. Even though they both gave us heart failure, it was one heck of a ride!!!

So now onto the next sport... Aggie Baseball. Friday night, we headed to College Station to watch our favorite Aggie baseball player. Brandon started in right field for the game against Texas Tech. Before the game, each player is announced and they run to their position, and they are joined by a little kid for the National Anthem. We signed up Jackson and Jordan to run onto the field, and explained that they were Brandon's cousins, so they got to stand with him. Sawing them off! Jackson and Jordan running out into right field.

How special is that for Brandon's cousins to be able to be out there with him. We were so proud. Brandon had a great game, and the Ags won the series.

Saturday, the cold front blew in... and boy did it BLOW in. During the day, we went to the children's museum in Bryan to break up the day a little bit. They had lots of different activities for the kids. Outside of the museum, there were these miniature trains. Many of you know that there are a huge number of trains that go thru B-CS everyday, so the mini-trains were fitting. Jackson loved them, and wanted to take a picture with every one we saw.


Let's just say that Daddy influenced this picture.

My cousin kept the kids Saturday night and we went to the game and braved the cold with Kenny's sister and brother-in-law. Olsen Field is always colder than any other part of campus. And the wind was brutal. It was another great game and the Aggies won. Sunday we decided to forgo the wind and cold and head back home.

Sunday was also Kenny's birthday. YAY! We went to lunch after Church and then headed back home. I had a cookie order to get out, so I baked and Kenny relaxed watching basketball. Well, watching the Aggies wasn't really relaxing. Let's just say he was sitting... most of the time. Since we didn't do much celebrating on Sunday, we had cake after dinner Monday night. Happy Birthday Daddy!!! We love you so much!!!

Easter Decorating

This past Sunday, Jackson and I went up into the attic and pulled out our Easter decorations. We don't have many, so it didn't take long. One thing we found was an Easter tree that I bought years ago. I hadn't put it up in a long time, but Jackson saw it and asked if he could decorate it. Of course I said yes. So while I put out the baskets and rabbits, Jackson sat at the table and decorated the tree. When he was finished, he was very proud.
