Soccer (The Other Football)

Both kids got in on the action this year! Jackson and Jordan both played soccer this year. Jordan had enough sitting on the sidelines, so she was so excited to be old enough to play something... anything!!!

Jackson picked soccer over tee-ball this year, and had had a great time (for the first half of the season). He has a really good team when they focus. But this group likes to play around a lot too. He had to sit out of two games because of the stitches on his knee. But now he’s back in action, thankfully. About half way thru the season, he had had enough, and was ready to play flag football again. But, he had to finish the season. Saturday was the last game, and now he can't wait to play flag football in the fall. I guess we'll see what he wants to do when it's time to sign up.



Jordan has wanted to play a team sport after watching Jackson thru the last couple of years. She couldn’t wait to start playing soccer. Kenny is her coach and he does a really good job with the girls. He has so much patience. Jordan is the youngest on her team and isn’t quite as aggressive as the other girls. But she’s starting to get into it a little more and even got in the pack and kicked the ball a couple of times during last week’s game. I was pretty excited!!! I think this is the beginning of her love of sports. She has asked to play softball since we've been watching the college girls on TV. I'm sooo OK with that! I keep telling her it's way more fun than soccer.

Mother's Day 2011

This is a pictureless post because I was too lazy celebrating Mother's Day to pull out the camera. :)
Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mom's out there. We had a very low key day which is okay with me. The St. Laurence Auction Gala was last night, and Kenny and I went for the first year as parents. It was lots of fun! So we woke up this morning to Jackson asking if he could play Wii. Sure... just don't wake up your sister. Then Jackson realized it was Mothers Day. He brought me breakfast in bed. ALL ON HIS OWN!!! He brought me a bowl (small, blue, plastic bowl) of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a cup of milk. Isn't he just the sweetest??? I asked him how he did and he was so proud that he poured the milk all by himself. I asked him if he spilled any and he said, "yea, just a little." But he must have cleaned it up... When I went to the kitchen a little later, there was no spilled milk anywhere. Holy HECK! Did he clean it up????? So that was just the greatest!

Then they went to get my presents. Kenny and Jackson wrapped them in gift bags and hid them in Jack's closet. Ummm, they weren't there when they went to get them. Some curly-haired little girl took them for some crazy reason. The t-shirt was thrown in one place on the floor and the yoga pants somewhere else, and I don't even know where the other one was. So after Kenny's little panic moment, they brought the gifts to me in one piece.

We had a great lunch at home then went and Aunt Gayle's to swim this afternoon. The kids were soooo excited to go swim. They've been waiting to swim since February. So here I sit at the computer at 7:45. Kenny, Jackson and Jordan are all already sleeping. Tired from all the swimming this afternoon. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my Mother's Day by watching the Housewives of Orange County and going to bed early.

Easter Marathon

Well, we weren’t running, literally, but it felt like we were running from place to place throughout the weekend. And here I am... writing about East on Mother's Day. Hoping all mothers reading this had a great day. And to Nana and Grandma, we love you very much!!!

The weekend before Easter we dyed eggs. The kids really got into this time and were great helpers. Jackson impressed me by writing his name on his red egg. Red is his favorite color, so he was quite proud of himself.


We started on Friday at my aunt and uncle’s house for their Good Friday fish fry. The food was super yummy and the kids had a ball. They couldn’t wait for the big Easter egg hunt! Lots of eggs to hunt! Here's Jordan riding the horsie. Still going strong after 47 years!






Saturday was spent decorating Nana’s walls after she got many of her rooms painted. Then we went to Dana and Ryan’s for a crawfish boil. I must say the Kenny did a fantastic job on the crawfish. They were spicy, but not too spicy, and cooked perfectly!

The Easter bunny came to Nana and Papa’s house Sunday morning. They hunted eggs yet again. The kids each got a swimsuit and a movie. I’m so happy to get some new movies. It will give me something new to listen to in the car.





After Church we headed to Grandma and Popo’s house for lunch. While we were there, we watched Brandon on the ESPN Top Ten Plays. What a proud moment.

We had another great lunch with many great desserts, and the kids hunted eggs again. They also had a great time trying to break the piñata. There were just 3 little ones there (Julia, Jordan and Jack) so they each got a lot of swings. And they came home with lots of loot!









And Easter isn't Easter until the confetti eggs come out!!!


Needless to say, we were all exhausted on Monday morning, but we trudged thru school and work with smiling faces. We’re so lucky to have so much family close by. And we’re so grateful to be able to spend such special moments with the ones we love most.
