Carving the Pumpkin

Jackson picked the biggest pumpkin he could find at the Pumpkin Patch a couple of weeks ago. So last night was the night to carve it. And what do you carve a HUGE pumpkin with??? A Dremel Tool of course! It works great!

It took a couple of hours, and it turned out great! The pumpkin is so stinkin' big, we could have two figures carved in it. The spider was for Jackson and the cat for Jordan.

Cats and Bats and Pumpkins, oh my! (and a ghost)

The kids have their Halloween parties at school on Friday, and I knew I wanted to make cookies for them. So Jackson requested cats, bats, ghosts and pumpkins. Kenny was feeling a little left out because I never make cookies for us at home, so I made an extra batch of pumpkins. I baked and baked and baked. For like 4 hours. Then Sunday night we outlined the cookies, and Monday we filled them in, and then Tuesday we put the finishing touches. I say we because Kenny is a good helper. He can't sit idle when I'm doing something creative. He did the more creative jack-o-lantern faces.

So I bagged up the cookies for the parties tonight, and put the rest up for us to munch on thru the weekend. Maybe tomorrow I'll have a break. But it was fun, and I really enjoy it. It's a nice break from the corporate world.

Jordan's First Aggie Game

I know the it was over a month ago, but I wanted to document Jordan's first Aggie game. I don't think she knew exactly what she was in for. The game started at 6, and Jordan refused to take a nap that day. She just played and played in the pack and play at Shari's. I got tired of waiting, so we finally went out to the tailgate. Then as we were walking to the stadium, she fell asleep on Jeff W's shoulder. Kenny and Jackson had gone early to play at the FanZone, so Jeff handed her over once we got to our seats.

She slept for a few minutes, but the flyover woke her up.

The cat nap was all she needed because she was full of energy once she woke up. Here she is clapping with the crowd. Every time the crowd would yell, she would jump up and clap.

Here's Jackson at the FanZone. He loved the blow up slides and obstacle courses.

Even though she left early with Sharla, she did pretty well for her first time. I think her favorite is the Aggie band, just like her brother.

Then Jackson fell asleep in the 3rd quarter. He starts to get bored, so we bring the iTouch with a movie, and he's all set.

The game was lots of fun, and we won too! Gig 'Em Aggies!

Zoo Boo!

We went to the Zoo for some family time on Saturday. They had a lot of neat activities for the kids in honor of Halloween. And the weather was perfect to be outside.

Here's "Movie Star" watching the lions.

They each got to pick out their own pumpkins and decorate them.

They had a mural that kids got to help color. Jackson didn't want to leave.

He even autographed it.

Jackson rode the carousel. For some reason Jordan wasn't very fond of it, so Jackson rode a second time with her ticket.

We also met up with my friend and her husband and 4 boys! Yep, you counted right, 4 boys! :-) But not the guy in the Oilers jersey! LOL!

We rode the train right before we left. When we were getting in the car Jackson already asked if we could come back and visit the zoo. We had a great time!

Oh! I'm sure you're all wondering what happened to Jackson's head. Well he walked in to the corner of a wall at daycare Friday afternoon. It broke the skin, and he's had a big ol' goose egg since. It's nice and greenish-purple tonight (Sunday).

More Pumpkin Patch

Aunt Dana sent some more pictures from the pumpkin patch on Saturday.

This one is my favorite! I think she brought these two pumpkins home.

Can You Come Back Home???

I have to share this funny story. Of course it wasn't funny at the time, but I can't help but smile when I think about it. Kristen at We Are THAT Family is having a Blogoversary Carnival, and asked readers to share a "THAT Family" moment. In 4 short years of motherhood, I've got my fair share of those kinds of moments, but this is one of the latest.

A couple of weeks ago, I ventured out with two of my sisters-in-law for an outing to Round Top, Texas. We weren't even out of the county when Kenny called and asked if I could come back home... facetiously of course. It seems that Jackson had taken his "full" Pull-Up off to get dressed for the day. He took the Pull-Up and was swinging it around (above his head I'm sure). Well, the lining kinda broke and the inside of the Pull-Up, all the gel-filled pellets were thrown against the fireplace screen, continued onto the window blinds and then the drapes. Kenny quickly got the shop vac up and vacuumed up all that he could. But can you imagine those little pellets in the fireplace screen. It's a gas fireplace, and you can't really removed the screen. There's still lint in the screen from where he was wiping it with a paper towel. I'm sure Jackson apologized the whole time, but all we could do was laugh in the car and be grateful we weren't there. :)

Pumpkin Patch!!!

Saturday we visited the Pumpkin Patch. Jackson kept looking for the biggest pumpkin to bring home... and I think he succeeded! Jordan liked carrying around the little-bitty pumpkins. Here's a pic of them cheesing for the camera. As you can tell, they were having a ball!

Playing on Kyle Field

Unfortunately the best part of the A&M vs. OSU game was after it! We all went down and played on Kyle Field. The kids (Kenny included) had a blast running around with the football. Jordan insisted on wearing her hood the entire game, so that's why she's got 'hat hair'. She also fell asleep during halftime, during the Aggie band of all things!!! But she really needed the nap. She slept into the 4th quarter. Jackson slept thru part of the 3rd quarter too... partly in the chair, and partly on Aunt Gayle's lap.

After we worked up an appetite playing ball, we went back to the tailgate and had chili. It was perfect weather for chili... cool and cloudy with a slight breeze from the north.

Is This Thing On???

So, I've wanted to start a blog for a while, but didn't think I had the time. Well, I'm going to give it a try. I'm mostly doing this to chronicle the lives and times of Jackson and Jordan since I'm so bad at updating their baby books. Here we go!
