The Toys Are Back in Town

We attended the Disney on Ice Toy Story III a couple of weeks ago. We've been big fans of the Toy Story movies since the first one came out. And Woody and Buzz are still popular toys at our house.

Mickey and Minnie opened up the show at the beginning and after intermission. Jordan LOVED seeing Minnie especially. Her favorite part was when Mickey and Minnie came out and skated around.

Jackson's favorite part was the soldier that floated down with a parachute. He kept yelling at me to take a picture! take a picture!!!

Jordan waving bye... She didn't want it to end. We had to hang out for a little while after the show because she just knew they would come back out to see her.

A Wild Ride

It’s been a wild ride these last few weeks and I’m not just saying that because we went to the zoo recently. I’ve been very lax in updating my blog and I really need to get in gear. This is, after all, my kids baby books and a journal of their lives. So I’m re-committing myself to more recent updates.

We had to take advantage of the cool spring weather and head to the zoo a few weeks ago. We couldn’t wait to see the new Africa exhibit. It was great. We especially loved the chimpanzees. This one is named Riley… hmm, kinda looks like another Riley I know! Ha!
We were able to get really close to the giraffes too. The kids loved it.

"Hello, my name is Jordan."

My little model!

And of course a trip to the zoo is not complete without a ride on the carousel and train!

We had lunch in the Village after the zoo. Here's Jordan's baby listening to the iPod.
Then we stopped at Academy to get the kids' soccer gear for the upcoming season. Jordan begged me to buy these boots. She thought they were the greatest. I really don't need a fancy pair of rubber boots, so she was okay with just taking a picture with them.

AGGIES WIN!!!!

A huge congratulations to the Texas A&M women's basketball team for beating Notre Dame 76 - 70 last night!!! What a great game. It was definitely more exciting than the men's game on Monday night. Our house is proud to be Aggies every day, but today is just a little extra special. Gig 'em!

Are You Kidding Me?????

Are you kidding me is the first thing I thought when I saw the gash on Jackson's leg. He was playing with the neighbors in their backyard as he's done tons of times and he fell and cut open his knee. It was a total accident, but man, we just went through this! So I tried to clean it up among the screaming and wailing. Wow, that's a pretty big cut I thought. So I called Kenny who was at the car place getting my car inspected. I wasn't sure if it needed stitches or not. He came right home and took a look. He wasn't sure either, but thought we better go to the ER. SO, I called my sister-in-law who is a pediatric nurse (thank God!) and she came right over. As soon as she saw it, she mouthed the word STITCHES to me. UGH, NOT what I wanted to hear.

So we were off! We dumped Jordan on Aunt Carla (thanks again!). And we made our way to the St. Luke's ER AGAIN. When the receptionist asked if we had been there before, Kenny and I looked at each other and chuckled. UMMM, Yes, about a month ago. So back to the same room we went. This is the third time Jack has been in that room. All for stitches! The doctor, different than last time, took one look and agreed that stitches were the solution. Kenny told the nurses and doctor to bring back-ups because last time was a nightmare. Luckily, this time, the doctor ordered a med that relaxed Jack a little bit. It didn't sedate him, but boy did it relax him. I really need some of that!!!

Here he is reading a book waiting for the doctor to come in.

After 30 minutes or so of numbing medicine, in came the team. 3 nurses and the doctor. Jackson was involved in his game on the iTouch. Let me just say that that little piece of electronics is a GODSEND!!! I'm not sure what the silver bullet was, but he was totally different this time. Don't get me wrong, there was still kicking, thrashing and yelling, but not near as much as last time. He focused on his game most of the time. It was AMAZING! So, seven stitches later, we were done. And no one was sweating buckets. Imagine that!
After the procedure. Still playing his game...

So for being such a trooper, Jackson got the new Star Wars III Wii game. He's been playing ever since. Here he is with Daddy.

So let's thank God that it wasn't worse. And let's pray that we won't be back there any time soon.

Mommy, Can you Hold my Tooth?

That's what Jackson asked me after he lost his first tooth the first Friday of Spring Break. He was playing with his friend Michael Paul at the KC Fish Fry. They bumped into each other and out popped Jack's tooth. We knew it was loose, but he didn't mess with it like lots of kids do. So when it came out, we were very surprised. And I searched around trying to find a ziploc or something to put the tooth in. We found some plastic wrap and put it in my purse for safe keeping. That night the Tooth Fairy brought Jackson a dollar. He was so excited the next morning. Of course, I'm the bad mommy and have no pictures of the toothless grin. BUT, the second tooth is loose now, so expect another tooth story soon!

Spring Break 2011

Better late than never is what I always say!!! This blog post is about a month late, but I had to document the fun we had!

Spring break started out with Tara and Mike's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful as was the bride. And what a great party! The kids pooped out on chairs later into the night. Wish I had a picture.

The day after the wedding, we drove to College Station to watch the Aggie baseball team play FIU. Brandon had a great game and even hit a triple! The Ags got the win, and the kids ran the bases after the game. Waiting to go...

Look at him go!!!

Tuesday night, we went back to College Station to watch the Aggies. They played a big game against Cal-State Fullerton. And since it was spring break and not a school night, we thought, why not?!?! The Aggies won again and played a great game!

Jackson and Jordan spent Wednesday in EC with Kenny. They played with their cousins and spent time with their grandparents. They had a great time.

By the time the weekend hit, the kids were already tired. So we spent the weekend at home working in the yard. I'm so excited that the backyard is finally into shape. Now I don't feel so bad when the kids go back there to play.

So that was our week in a nutshell. Sorry for the long post!
