Kite Festival

So we woke up Saturday morning and HAD to take advantage of the long lost sunshine!!! So we went to the Kite Festival at the new Memorial Park. We got there right when it started at 10am which was great because we got great parking and we were then when the wind was good. There were professional kite flyers there. I didn't even know they existed. And there was a kite-flying contest for amateurs.

I had never really flown a kite. The sad attempts we made in the Eggemeyers backyard don't really count because we gave up after a few futile attempts. So to see all the kites in the sky and to actually have my own kite flying... in the air... for more than a couple of seconds was pretty fun!!!

They had some cute little paper kites that the kids could decorate and then fly.
These little paper kites flew amazingly! Here's Jackson helping Jordan get hers in the air. He was very helpful.
Here's Jordan with her kite in the sky. She loved it! And kept running back and forth.
She eventually tired out and flew her kite from the stroller. How funny is that?!?!?
Then it was Jackson's turn. He tried so hard with Daddy to get his jet kite flying. Here is one of the few times it was up.
Even though we weren't very successful with the jet, Jack did great with his paper kite too.

Once the wind died down, we decided to go to the playground and play for a little while.

Jackson is still talking about the kites. The kids had so much fun. We'll definitely be doing this again next year.

Another year...

...OLDER! We celebrated my birthday over the weekend. When you're feeling down about turning another year older, all it takes is two little ones to brighten your spirits. They sang the Happy Birtday song to me all the time. We woke up Friday and had cupcakes for breakfast. I'm sure the teachers loved us for that!
Then the kids went to spend the weekend at Grandma and Popo's. While they were there, they made a cake for me. It was very sweet.
We had to be sure and all get a turn blowing out the candles.

The cake was yummy! The kids (and grandma) did a great job.
After spending a busy weekend at their grandparent's house, the kids were tuckered out and crashed 10 minutes down the road.

Pizza Time!

Today after Jackson's speech therapy session, he and I made pizza. He saw a cartoon where they were making pizzas last week and asked if we could make some for dinner one night. So we thought this would be a great Mommy and Jackson project. Of course, Kenny had the camera, so I didn't get any pictures. But just let me say, they were really yummy, and super easy. I mean it doesn't take much effort when all the kids want is a cheese pizza. Although, we did make happy faces with the pepperoni, so that was fun. It was a hit, and I think we'll be doing it again really soon!

Just Jordan

So this is a "just Jordan" post today. Right before Christmas we all went for haircuts. And Jordan had her first haircut!!! I wasn't sure if she would actually sit in the chair, but a lollipop and sitting in Daddy's lap made it all okay. She was such a big girl!!! [Sorry for the yucky pictures, I forgot my camera and had to use the camera on Kenny's phone.]

And since we're on the subject, did I mention that she LOVES her some Pringles. Sour Cream and Onion are her favorite! Sorry, used the camera phone for this one too.

Stir Crazy

What do you do when you've been staring at the same four walls for three days in a row??? You go to the zoo!!! The Saturday after the new year, we were getting a little stir crazy at home, so we decided to go to the zoo. It was a little chilly at first, but the sun was bright and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Of course, the first animals we had to see were the giraffes and elephants. For some reason, Jordan LOVES giraffes these days. Luckily, she's got at least 4 stuffed giraffes at home.

After the animals, we hit the playground in the Children's Zoo.

The kids LOVED the prairie dog exhibit. This one got really close to Jordan and it freaked her out at first.

Then we hit the carousel. And we were so excited because Jordan rode it for the first time!

Then she wanted to ride it again! ~HA!

After the carousel, the kids were done with the zoo. So of course that meant it was time to go ride the train. And for the first time, we were close enough to the front of the line that we got to sit in the caboose. Jackson was VERY excited.

It was a good day. Wish we would have some more beautiful (warm) days like that day was.

Taking it for a Test Drive

Well, it's decided. Jordan definitely LOVES her new scooter. She gets out in the cul-de-sac and just drives and drives in circles. Of course she has to take her baby (Dana) for rides too. She's still working on the steering, though. Jackson drives his little truck while she's driving the scooter and he definitely has to steer clear of her. She ran into him the other day and got all mad telling Kenny that "Jackson HIT me!!!" She's too funny!

We're having crazy weather thru the weekend for SE Texas. Of course my kids wouldn't be mad if it snowed again this year. Everyone stay warm out there!!!
