Spring Break 2011

Better late than never is what I always say!!! This blog post is about a month late, but I had to document the fun we had!

Spring break started out with Tara and Mike's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful as was the bride. And what a great party! The kids pooped out on chairs later into the night. Wish I had a picture.

The day after the wedding, we drove to College Station to watch the Aggie baseball team play FIU. Brandon had a great game and even hit a triple! The Ags got the win, and the kids ran the bases after the game. Waiting to go...

Look at him go!!!

Tuesday night, we went back to College Station to watch the Aggies. They played a big game against Cal-State Fullerton. And since it was spring break and not a school night, we thought, why not?!?! The Aggies won again and played a great game!

Jackson and Jordan spent Wednesday in EC with Kenny. They played with their cousins and spent time with their grandparents. They had a great time.

By the time the weekend hit, the kids were already tired. So we spent the weekend at home working in the yard. I'm so excited that the backyard is finally into shape. Now I don't feel so bad when the kids go back there to play.

So that was our week in a nutshell. Sorry for the long post!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday Daddy! We want to thank you for all the things you do...

Like taking us to the Pumpkin Patch when Mommy is out of town.

And showing us that puppies aren't so scary...

And letting us play in the water while you're washing the car...

And taking us to the Thanksgiving parade...

And to Aggie games!

And for everything else. We love you so much!!! Hope you have a great day!

In Stitches!!!

Sorry I've been away sooo long! So much is going on, that I haven't had time to get on the computer. And when I have time... Kenny is usually working on it. I'm happy (actually ecstatic) that he's working and has many projects lining up, so I don't dare ask to get on the computer for a blog post! :-)

So backup a month or so ago, February 24, to be exact. It was a typical Thursday morning. I was getting breakfast ready in the kitchen while Jackson was peeping through the bar opening from the family room. He was able to look thru the opening by standing on the couch. We tell Jackson and Jordan to not stand on the couch all the time. All the time!!! When I told him that breakfast was ready, he slipped off the edge of the couch and hit the edge of the coffee table with his chin. I heard the bump and heard him crying and he walked into the kitchen covering his chin. When he moved his had, it started bleeding. Uh-oh, I thought, this might be more serious than I thought. I pulled on it a little and it made a hole. Oh NO! All who know me know it took a deep breath to keep from getting queasy. So we covered the cut with a dish towel and ran to the bathroom to urge Daddy to get out of the shower. Kenny is my go-to guy for this kind of stuff. First of all, he's a boy and had SEVERAL cuts and stitches. And, he knows first aid really, really well. So he took a look and was like, yep, we need to go to the ER. So we rushed Jordan to daycare (by this time, we bandaged it up and it was closed up enough that it wasn't really bleeding too much), and we went on to St. Luke's. 5 stitches later, we were okay. Poor little guy. It took 4 adults to hold him down. 2 men and 2 women. By the time it was over, we were both in tears. Jackson's head was foaming he was sweating so much. And we were so happy when it was over. This was the best pic we got with Kenny's phone.

As a side note, the doctor that stitched up Jackson is actually a dad to one of Jackson's classmates. He was awesome!

Oh, and taking the stitches out was just as traumatic! Luckily, I didn't have to witness that one! Thanks, Kenny for taking care of it!!!

Mommy's Little Helper

Last week I had a big cookie order to fill. So I enlisted some help!!! Jordan is becoming more interested in helping me bake. As soon as she hears the mixer going, she comes running. So this time, I gave her her own piece of dough and she went to town. She cut out several different shapes (with the same piece of dough) and had a lot of fun!

Introducing...

I wanted to introduce our new company, Red Oak Design Group, to the world. Kenny and I have jumped off the cliff and started our own company. Red Oak Design Group is a full service Landscape Architecture Firm. Don't get me wrong, I'm still at my day job, but have a second, third and fourth job now! I'm nervous, scared and excited all at the same time, but I think this will be the start of something really, really good. Feel free to go to the website, but please note that it's still very much a work in progress. We hope to have a more polished site up and running in the next few weeks.

So, all of you friends and family that plan to build a resort out there, we've got a Landscape Architect ready and waiting to do the design!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

So my plan for this post didn't quite work out. I was planning to have my kids dressed in red smiling and hugging and wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! Well, sometimes things don't work out as planned. My sweet little girl is sleeping on the couch right now with a slight fever and a stomach bug she's had since yesterday. So, we're sending everyone cyber cookies from our (sick) house to yours.

What a Bummer...

We had two very unhappy kiddos at our house this morning. They sure were expecting snow when they woke up today. Boy were they sad when all they saw was ice. Oh well, maybe next year.
