Our next day started at the Texas State Aquarium. The aquarium is a rescue and rehab facility. They are also very involved in conservation along the Texas Gulf Coast. We weren't sure what to expect, but the aquarium was great and the kids had a great time.
Jackson was all about seeing the sharks. He zoomed thru the first half until we got to the sharks, and we hung out there for a while.
This exhibit showed how an oil platform creates a habitat for ocean life to live and thrive around. For some reason, this was very interesting to me. Here are some sharks hanging out under a pipe.
The kids got in on an educational presentation where a diver is in the water and they talk about the various fish.
We also watched the dolphin show and visited the sea turtles.
After the aquarium we went to the USS Lexington. It's a retired aircraft carrier that served in several wars. The kids loved it. Especially Jackson. He couldn't wait to see all the airplanes.
Sometimes I wish we had one of these at home...
We finally made it to the flight deck. WOW, it was so cool seeing all the planes. And to think of all the planes that took off and landed on the deck thru the years was very humbling.
This post is long enough... Day 4 was spent back at the beach. The tide was high and there was lots of seaweed. Needless to say, the kids weren't too thrilled by that, but we made due and still had fun!

How fun, we went to the Aquarium last year and I'd love to take the boys again. So fun!
